Grief is cyclical, evolving, always in some kind of movement even when that flow is disguised. Learning to be aware of its many languages and sensations assists in more intimate, recognizable expressions that can lead us to the great Artist and Lover within our soul: how do we express and share the riches within our grief, as grief is one aspect of love?
On June 1st-2nd we held a weekend gathering to explore and express our grief in Roanoke, VA that was partially funded by the Roanoke Arts Commission and Roanoke Parks and Recreation and was supported as well by the Carillon Clinic: Center for Grief and Healing. It was a beautiful coming together with much transformation in relationship to grief, awareness and the always available beauty of one’s true nature.
There were some who were not able to participate the second, very powerful day and so by request I am facilitating another day of time spent with the movement of grief, our connection to the Earth and Ancestors and in support of our need for Compassion and addressing the nature of Forgiveness. To attend this October 26th gathering you will need to bring:
--a bagged lunch
--blanket, pillow, bolster, mat.. anything you can be comfortable on the floor/ground with
--3 pieces of fabric approx. 2x3 feet each: one all or mostly red that you won't take home with you, one mostly or all blue and one mostly or all green, yellow and or white that you will take home. These fabrics are for creating the altars.
-- please also bring pictures, letters, other meaningful items given or inherited from your family lineage. Also bring anything meaningful and workable in a shared space from anyone you've loved and lost, including animals.
--Please bring artifacts that symbolize/represent your gratitude to and love for the Earth.
--Bring flowers and a vase or jar to hold them in. They can be homegrown, wild or from a florist. Please make sure they are not toxic. (I. E. like Poison Hemlock which looks like Queen Anne's Lace).
--Bring a water bottle and your own mug if you want hot tea. It will be August and I don't know how many will want hot tea but it might be comforting for some nonetheless, so I will have hot tea available as well as iced herb tea. I will provide some refreshments for the day.
--Bring some Kleenex to have on hand for yourself.
Everything you bring will be taken home except for the red cloths.
*I will be sending out emails with prompts and inquiries for you to explore before we gather to help prepare you to be just as you need to be.
