Resting With Mother Earth

Sometimes on the spiritual path it seems like we feel the only valuable and true way to understand Reality and our place in it is to create complex theories, practices and vast spreading hierarchies of deeply embellished belief systems. These abstracted thought forms become such easy places for the mind to hide from itself, from true awareness; and within these labyrinthine circles the dear, intelligent body can also become forgotten and bereft of its needful and natural companions.

How wonderful instead to be out wild with Coyote or Fox, or with silently skimming Owl or nesting Deer, listening closely to the songs of the snow, tasting the night's cold silver on my tongue and warming my heart by the glowing eyes of shy night creatures. My own spirit rings with grateful pleasure to this simply offered, sensory wisdom from the Earth. How generous to be offered these spaces of rest and peace, allowing the mind to soften and the body to fill with easy breath.
